He's a spiny dogfish and a medic of Sarelac, a large community created on an even larger salt lake. Although smaller than some of the larger denizens, he can put up quite a fight for someone his size, often catching those who try to pick at him off guard.

He wasn't born naturally, instead created in a lab by scientists to see if they could create a shark that wouldn't be restricted to water. Being the result, he can breathe comfortably on land as well as in water, and he doesn't have to worry about his skin drying out.

His best friends are a bottle-nosed dolphin named Masa and a pelagic thresher shark named Kimpura. Duke has a pleasant attitude and can get along with just about anyone.
